Description

ATEN CS742H Dual-display KVM Switch

Overview

The ATEN CS742H is a 2-port dual-display KVM switch designed to consolidate control of two computers onto a single console. This unit supports dual monitor setups with resolutions up to 4096 x 2160 @ 60Hz or an ultrawide 5120 x 1440 @ 60Hz, making it ideal for workstations requiring extensive screen real estate, such as video editing suites, CAD environments, or complex surveillance monitoring stations. The CS742H allows you to switch both video and USB peripherals between connected computers using hotkeys, front panel pushbuttons, a mouse wheel, or an optional remote port selector.

Compatibility

This KVM switch is designed to connect to any two computers equipped with USB keyboard/mouse ports and dual video outputs supporting HDMI. It supports USB 2.0 peripheral sharing via two front-accessible Type-A ports, enabling the use of external hard drives, webcams, or other USB devices without needing to reconnect them when switching computers. The video specification is compatible with standard HDMI output from most modern desktop and workstation graphics cards.

Installation Notes

The ATEN CS742H supports automatic scan interval adjustment for monitoring connected computers, configurable from 1 to 99 seconds with a default of 5 seconds. It operates in environments with 0-80% RH humidity, non-condensing. The unit is designed for rack mounting, with physical dimensions expressed in a LxWxH format typical for rack-mount products. Firmware can be upgraded to v1.1.101.
