Overview
The WAX620PA-100NAS is a PoE+ power adapter designed to supply the NETGEAR WAX620 Insight Managed WiFi 6 AX3600 access point. It delivers consistent power via a 2.5Gbps PoE+ Ethernet port, enabling deployments where dedicated power infrastructure is unavailable or where consolidating cabling to a single run simplifies installation. Power consumption ranges from 9W to 25.5W depending on operational load—low enough to avoid straining standard PoE+ switches (which budget 30W per port minimum), yet sufficient for sustained WiFi 6 operation across concurrent client devices and bands.
Compatibility
The WAX620PA-100NAS is compatible exclusively with the NETGEAR WAX620 access point. It is not suitable for other WAX or WAC series models. The adapter supports seamless integration within NETGEAR Insight-managed WiFi networks, allowing the WAX620 to operate in mixed-environment deployments alongside WAC510, WAC564, WAX610, and WAX610Y access points when those devices use their own power sources or adapters.
Installation Notes
The adapter connects via standard RJ-45 Ethernet using 802.3at PoE+ protocol. Verify your PoE+ switch or injector supports at least 30W output per port to accommodate peak consumption spikes. Position the adapter within the cable run to the access point, ideally in a climate-controlled enclosure to avoid condensation exposure. Multi-Gig Ethernet connectivity requires Category 6A cabling for full 2.5G link speeds over distances beyond 100 feet; standard Cat 5e will negotiate to lower speeds but remains compatible.
