Description

Altronix PACE1KR Single-Pair Ethernet and PoE Extender Receiver

Overview

The Altronix PACE1KR is the receiver half of a long-range single-pair Ethernet and PoE delivery system designed for outdoor surveillance runs where standard Cat5e infrastructure simply runs out of distance. Standard IEEE 802.3 Ethernet tops out at 100 meters — the PACE1KR pushes usable data distance to 1km (3,280 ft) over a single twisted pair, while simultaneously delivering up to 30W of IEEE 802.3af/at PoE power to the endpoint device. If you're running cameras along a fence line, across a parking structure, or to a remote access control reader that's far outside the reach of your nearest switch, this is the unit that closes the gap without pulling fiber or deploying an intermediate switch cabinet.

Paired with its transmitter counterpart, the PACE1KR operates on 2-wire UTP or shielded cable terminated to screw terminals — no RJ-45 field crimps on the long run, which eliminates one of the most common failure points in extended outdoor deployments. The endpoint side uses a standard RJ-45 connector, so your PoE camera or access device plugs in exactly as it would at a normal switch port.

Key Features

  • 1km (3,280 ft) data reach: Where Cat5e dies at 100m, the PACE1KR keeps your 10Mbps Ethernet link alive across distances that would otherwise require fiber or a repeater. For perimeter cameras, gate intercoms, or remote reader stations, that 10x distance multiplier changes what's deployable without trenching new conduit.
  • 30W PoE output (IEEE 802.3af/at): Delivers enough power to drive most PTZ cameras, multi-sensor units, or PoE-powered access control panels at the far end — no separate local power supply needed at the remote device. Both 802.3af (up to 15.4W) and 802.3at (up to 30W) are supported, so higher-draw devices are covered.
  • Extended power runs — 16 AWG goes 3,169m (10,396 ft): The power delivery leg has significantly more headroom than the data leg. On 16 AWG wire, you can push power more than 3km — useful when the camera is close but the closest AC source is far away and you're running dedicated power conductors. On 18 AWG, the maximum drops to 1,996m (6,548 ft), still well beyond typical site runs.
  • 2-wire UTP or shielded termination via screw terminals: Screw-terminal connections on the long-run side are more reliable in outdoor or industrial conduit than field-crimped RJ-45 ends. Shielded cable support means you can add EMI protection in electrically noisy environments (near motors, HVAC equipment, or industrial machinery) without changing the receiver.
  • 10Mbps Ethernet throughput: Adequate for H.265-compressed single-camera feeds at typical surveillance bitrates (1–4Mbps). This is not a multi-camera aggregation link — plan one PACE1KR per endpoint device. If you need higher throughput at distance, evaluate a fiber solution instead.
  • Wide operating temperature: -20°C to 49°C (-4°F to 120.2°F): Covers most North American outdoor deployments year-round, including cold-climate winters and direct-sun summer installations. Storage is rated to -40°C / 75°C, so units can sit in an unheated warehouse or van without damage.
  • UL/cUL and CE agency listings: UL/cUL listing satisfies AHJ requirements for most commercial and government installations in the US and Canada. CE listing covers European conformity. These listings matter for permit-pulling and insurance documentation on commercial projects.
  • Compact form factor — 3.8
