Description

Altronix NETWAYSP1PX Single Port Ethernet-Fiber Converter/Injector

Overview

The Altronix NETWAYSP1PX is a compact, single-port Ethernet-to-fiber converter and injector designed to extend network connectivity for IP devices. It solves the problem of network distance limitations by converting standard Ethernet signals to fiber optic signals, allowing for transmission over much longer distances than copper alone. This unit is specifically suited for extending the reach of IP cameras, access control readers, or other network devices in environments where standard Ethernet cabling is insufficient, such as large industrial facilities or campus networks. The NETWAYSP1PX model provides both conversion and power injection capabilities.

Compatibility

This device is compatible with standard IEEE 802.3af/at/bt compliant PoE devices, including a wide range of IP cameras, wireless access points, and other network-enabled equipment. It functions as a media converter, accepting standard Ethernet input and outputting a fiber optic signal, and vice-versa. It is designed to work with single-mode or multi-mode fiber optic transceivers (sold separately) to achieve desired transmission distances.

Installation Notes

The NETWAYSP1PX requires a standard Ethernet connection from your network switch and a fiber optic transceiver (SFP module, sold separately) for the fiber link. It can inject PoE power to the connected device, simplifying installation by eliminating the need for a separate power supply at the remote end, provided the network switch port or an upstream injector supplies sufficient power. Ensure the fiber optic transceiver selected matches the fiber type (single-mode or multi-mode) and connector type (e.g., LC, SC) of the remote end device.
