The ATEN KN1108VA is an 8-port KVM over IP switch that gives one remote user and one local user simultaneous access to connected servers or devices — without requiring a dedicated on-site operator for every maintenance task. It fits data centers, server rooms, and secure equipment closets where out-of-band management is required and console access to multiple hosts needs to be consolidated at a single rack-mount point. Port selection via pushbuttons, on-screen GUI, or hotkeys keeps daily operation flexible for whoever is at the console.
The KN1108VA connects to servers and devices via PS/2 or USB keyboard and mouse interfaces, covering a broad range of legacy and current-generation servers. Cascade configuration extends the switch to manage up to 128 nodes across multiple KN-series units — practical for mid-size deployments that need to grow without replacing the head unit. Power input accepts 100–240V AC at 50–60Hz via two IEC 60320/C14 inlets, so it integrates directly with standard rack PDUs in single- or dual-feed configurations. Firmware is field-upgradeable; current release is v2.0.192 (2026-05-04).
The KN1108VA is a standard rack-mount form factor — note that ATEN's published WxDxH dimensions for rack products follow an LxWxH convention, so verify orientation against your rack's available U-space before ordering. Operating humidity limit is 0–80% RH non-condensing; avoid installations in unconditioned spaces or anywhere condensation is possible. Scan interval is configurable from 1 to 255 seconds, which lets you tune auto-scan cycle time to match how many ports are active without overloading the display session. Maximum input draw is 1A at full voltage range — well within a standard 15A PDU circuit even when both power inlets are used.
