The Viking Electronics E-20-IP is a PoE-powered VoIP entry phone built for surface-mount deployment at doors, gates, and access points where a single Cat5e/6 run handles both power and SIP communication. Drawing under 4 watts via an IEEE 802.3af-compliant switch or injector, it eliminates any separate power supply run — a practical advantage in retrofit installs where conduit is already stubbed for network cable. The unit delivers up to 90dB SPL at 1 meter, appropriate for noisy vestibules or loading-dock entries. Dimensions are 5.5″ × 4.5″ × 1.5″ (140mm × 115mm × 38mm), and the UV-stable light gray plastic housing is sized for standard single-gang or surface-mount back-box installations. The E-20-IP also integrates a 2-amp relay output (rated 2A @ 30VDC / 250VAC max) for direct door strike, magnetic lock, gate controller, or SL-2 strobe light control — keeping your wiring count low and eliminating a separate relay module in most installs.
The E-20-IP is part of Viking's Viking Electronics VoIP entry phone family, sharing a common platform with the E-10-IP, E-30-IP, and E-32-IP models. All four share the same Viking Device Manager software for parallel programming, firmware updates, and polling — so mixed deployments across a single site remain manageable from one interface. The unit connects to any SIP-compliant IP PBX or hosted VoIP platform. The onboard relay output pairs directly with electric door strikes, mag-locks, or gate controllers rated within the 2A contact envelope; for higher-current loads, plan for an external relay or power transfer module. Compatible with VoIP entry phones category infrastructure including standard 802.3af PoE switches and injectors — no 802.3at or 802.3bt budget required, which simplifies port allocation on budget PoE switches. Field wiring accepts 19–26 AWG conductors with insulation up to 0.082″ OD, covering standard Cat5e/6 and most low-voltage hookup wire gauges. Network interface operates at 100Mbps full duplex.
Surface mount only — no flush or recessed back-box option for this model. If a flush-mount appearance is required for the finished wall, consider a surface-mount adapter trim ring or evaluate the entry phone line for a flush-rated variant. Terminate field wiring within the 19–26 AWG range; oversized conductors with insulation thicker than 0.082″ will not seat correctly in the terminal block. Relay wiring must stay within the 2A @ 30VDC / 250VAC contact rating — exceeding this requires an interposing relay. For initial provisioning, navigate to vikingelectronics.com, search E-20-IP, and download the IP configuration guide from the product's Downloads section. Viking Device Manager handles bulk firmware and config pushes across multiple units on the same network segment, reducing commissioning time on multi-door deployments. Pair with a PoE network switch sized to the site's total port-wattage budget; at under 4W per unit, even a modest 65W 8-port switch comfortably supports eight E-20-IP phones simultaneously.
