Pelco VB-440-64-KF-N Body-Worn Camera
Overview
The Pelco VB-440-64-KF-N is a 1920×1080 Full HD body-worn camera built for law enforcement, security personnel, and field operations where hands-free video documentation and audio capture must survive outdoor conditions and physical handling. Compact at 2.7" W × 3.5" H × 1.04" D and weighing just 5.7 oz (162 g), it remains unobtrusive during prolonged wear. IP67 rating ensures dust and water immersion protection (up to 1 meter for 30 minutes)—essential for outdoor patrols, warrant executions, community interactions, and incident response where weather and terrain are unpredictable. Integral lithium-polymer battery delivers up to 12 hours of recording on a single charge under optimal settings, with full-shift pre- and post-record buffering (up to 2 minutes) to capture context before and after manual trigger events. Dual compression support (H.265 and H.264) enables flexible storage management and compatibility with diverse evidence management platforms without re-encoding.
Compatibility
The VB-440-64-KF-N integrates with Pelco VideoManager 12.1 or later for centralized management, configuration, and footage retrieval. Dual microphone audio capture works across all supported resolution modes (1920×1080, 1280×720, 640×360). Bluetooth connectivity (BT 2.1 + EDR and BLE 4.2) enables wireless pairing to docking stations, evidence management systems, and companion mobile or desktop devices. Integral GPS receiver marks video streams with location data for geofenced deployments and audit trails. RFID assignment capability allows pooled camera issuance or controlled personal allocation through the management software. Peer-assisted recording triggers the camera when other VB400 units come within a configurable radius—useful for coordinated multi-officer operations.
Installation Notes
Battery recharges in less than 8 hours. The integral, non-user-serviceable lithium-polymer battery minimizes field maintenance but requires docking station access for recharge cycles. Five software-configurable switches (top switch, two small front switches, large central switch, and side-mounted slide switch) allow operators to bookmark important footage, toggle recording status, and receive configurable vibration, visual, and audible notifications without removing the camera from chest or vest mounting. Low-light operation supports conditions down to 0.2 lux, and day/night mode switches automatically. Capture angle is 120° horizontal, 65° vertical, and 140° diagonal.
