Overview
The Viking Electronics W-3005-EWP is a handsfree doorbox combining a built-in 420-line color video camera with a 14-gauge 316 marine-grade stainless steel faceplate — built for entry points that take abuse and face the elements. The W-3005-EWP ships ready for flush mount via the included rough-in box (4.0" x 4.0" x 2.12") or surface mount using the optional Viking VE-5x5 surface mount box; the EWP designation means enhanced weather protection is engineered in, not bolted on. At IP66, it handles direct rain and dust ingress without issue — appropriate for covered exterior entries, vestibules, and demanding indoor checkpoints alike. Operating range of -15°F to 130°F with up to 100% condensing humidity means this unit won't fail in a cold-climate loading dock or a sun-exposed southern facade.
Compatibility
The W-3005-EWP is designed for deployment alongside Viking intercom and door entry systems, including the W-1000 and W-3000 series doorboxes. The built-in camera outputs composite video over coax — RG59 or RG6 cable supports runs up to 1,000 ft, making it compatible with analog video monitors and DVRs accepting standard composite input. The VE-LIGHT accessory can be wired directly to the AC power input of this doorbox for supplemental illumination. Power input is 120V AC / 13.8V AC at 1.25A via a UL-listed adapter. The optional VE-5x5 surface mount box is required for any surface-mount installation where a rough-in box cannot be recessed. For installations integrated into broader access control or surveillance systems, verify that your analog video head-end accepts 420-line composite input and that your monitor or DVR supports the camera's 80° horizontal / 60° vertical field of view for the coverage area required.
Installation Notes
Seven gel-filled butt connectors are included for weatherproof field terminations — appropriate for the connection count on a typical entry-point wiring run. The camera offers vertical tilt adjustment of ±20° and horizontal swivel of ±30°, so final camera aim is set after rough-in, giving installers room to correct for box placement that isn't perfectly centered on the subject. The push button switch is internally sealed to IP67, and the speaker is Mylar construction — both rated beyond the IP66 enclosure for the scenarios where water infiltration around a faceplate seam is a concern. Overall installed dimensions are 5.0" x 5.0" x 2.25"; plan the rough-in box recess accordingly before drywall or masonry is finished. Manufacturer warranty is two years.
