Overview
The W2000A-EWP is a surface-mount, handsfree doorbox built for outdoor analog telephone line deployments where moisture, condensation, and seasonal temperature swings are a real factor. It interfaces directly with an unused analog (POTS) line — no VoIP adapter, no extra hardware. The EWP designation means this unit ships with foam rubber gaskets, sealed boots, gel-filled butt connectors, and urethane or thermally potted internals that lock out water ingress at the connection points. If your installation is exposed to rain, humidity up to 100% condensing, or temperature swings from -26°C to 54°C, the W2000A-EWP is the correct variant to specify. The standard W-2000A (non-EWP) is appropriate only for covered or protected indoor/semi-indoor locations.
Compatibility
The W2000A-EWP is designed to work with standard analog POTS telephone lines. It operates on 24V talk battery, handles a ringer output up to 3.0 REN, and supports loop runs up to 1.9 km — giving you meaningful reach on long wire runs to remote gates, loading docks, or perimeter entry points without a signal repeater. Maximum power run to the unit is 45.7 m. Speaker output peaks at 70 dB at 1 m, which is adequate for most outdoor entry environments but may require supplemental amplification in high-ambient-noise industrial settings. Connections terminate to a 4-position terminal block (standard) or the included gel-filled butt connectors on the EWP wiring harness. Power input is 120V AC/13.8V AC with a 1.25A adapter.
Installation Notes
Surface mount only — no flush or recessed mounting option exists for this chassis. The UV-stable light gray plastic chassis measures 140 x 115 x 38 mm; verify clearance before ordering. EWP connections use gel-filled butt connectors rather than the standard terminal block to seal field splices — do not substitute with standard butt connectors or open terminals on outdoor runs. Operating humidity tolerance is up to 100% condensing, but proper conduit and cable management at the entry point remains the installer's responsibility. Ring cadence is fixed at 1 second ON / 3 seconds OFF and is not field-configurable.
