Description

ATEN CE750A USB VGA/Audio KVM Extender over Cat5

Overview

The ATEN CE750A is a USB KVM extender that transmits VGA video, USB keyboard/mouse, and audio signals over a single Cat5/5e/6 cable — eliminating the need to co-locate a workstation with its display and input devices. The CE750A is the right choice for control room buildouts, server closets, and industrial workstations where the host computer must sit away from the operator position. It supports resolutions up to 1920x1200 at 30m, 1600x1200 at 150m, and 1280x1024 at 200m, giving integrators the flexibility to choose extension distance without sacrificing usable desktop resolution at mid-range runs. The unit-to-unit connection uses a single RJ-45 female port, keeping cable infrastructure simple. A built-in picture compensation control (orange-coded adjustment) lets installers fine-tune signal quality at the remote end without returning to the local unit.

Compatibility

The CE750A pairs with the ATEN KVM extender family and is designed for the CE750A local/remote unit pairing. It connects to any USB host system with a standard VGA output — compatible with workstations, embedded controllers, and industrial PCs presenting USB HID and VGA interfaces. As part of the broader KVM extender category, it integrates into single-user remote desktop configurations; it is not a switch and does not support multi-user or multi-host topologies. For deployments requiring longer runs or higher resolutions at distance, consult the ATEN extender line for HDBaseT or DisplayPort variants. Use with Cat5e or Cat6 cabling for best performance at maximum extension distances — unshielded Cat5 may limit signal quality at 150–200m runs.

Installation Notes

Operating humidity is rated at 0–80% RH non-condensing — avoid installations in environments with condensation risk such as unheated outdoor enclosures or high-moisture industrial areas. The local unit mounts in a standard rack per rack accessory conventions; note that physical dimensions for rack-mount products are expressed as L×W×H rather than the standard W×D×H convention. Verify cable run length against the resolution requirement before finalizing the installation: a 200m run caps usable resolution at 1280x1024, which may not meet the display requirements of modern high-DPI workstation monitors.
