ATEN KE6900AR USB DVI-I KVM over IP Receiver
Overview
The KE6900AR is the receiver unit of ATEN's KE6900 KVM over IP extender system, designed to place a USB keyboard, mouse, and DVI-I display at a remote workstation while the actual computer stays secured in a server room or data center. The KE6900AR handles the remote (operator) end of the connection, delivering up to 1920 x 1200 @ 60Hz video with under 5ms latency — low enough for most administrative and monitoring workflows where display lag is noticeable. Two USB Type-A female ports support keyboard and mouse passthrough. A slide switch on the unit toggles between Extension mode and RS-232 configuration mode, giving installers a direct path to serial-based setup without needing a separate management interface.
Compatibility
The KE6900AR pairs exclusively with the ATEN KE6900 KVM over IP system — specifically the KE6900AT transmitter unit installed at the host computer. It is part of ATEN's KE Series KVM over IP extenders, which also includes the KE6940 dual-display variant; the KE6900AR is single-display only and is not interchangeable with dual-display receiver units. The system operates over a standard IP network, making it compatible with managed and unmanaged Gigabit switches in typical enterprise LAN environments. For multi-seat deployments, ATEN's CCKM controller software manages matrix-style switching across multiple KE Series transmitter and receiver pairs.
Installation Notes
Mount Type is rack-compatible — note that ATEN rack products express physical dimensions as L x W x H rather than the conventional W x D x H. The slide switch must be set to the correct mode before deployment: Extension mode for normal KVM operation, RS-232 Config for initial serial setup. Operating humidity tolerance runs 0–95% RH non-condensing, so avoid installations in environments with condensation risk such as uncontrolled server closets. Firmware v1.7.164 (released 2024-05-24) is the current baseline; update via the shared KVM management package ke6900a-ke6940a-v1.7.164.zip, which covers both KE6900 and KE6940 series receivers.
