Description

ATEN KA7169 USB DisplayPort KVM Rack Adapter

Overview

The ATEN KA7169 is a KVM adapter cable designed to connect rack-mounted computers to an ATEN KVM switch using a USB keyboard/mouse interface and a DisplayPort video signal. The KA7169 presents two USB Type-A male connectors for keyboard and mouse passthrough and one DisplayPort male connector for video — all on the computer side. It is the right adapter when your target server or workstation exposes a DisplayPort output rather than VGA, HDMI, or DVI, and you need to tie it into an ATEN KVM matrix or desktop switch that uses Cat 5e/6 or proprietary adapter-based cabling. Storage-rated to -20–60°C, it handles the temperature range of a standard server room or data closet without issue.

Compatibility

The KA7169 is designed for use with ATEN KVM switches that accept plug-in adapter modules — specifically the KH, KL, KM, and KN series matrix and desktop switches that use Cat 5e/6-based adapter dongles on the computer port side. It is compatible with rack-mounted computers and servers equipped with a DisplayPort video output and two USB Type-A ports for HID devices. It is not compatible with systems using HDMI, DVI, or VGA video outputs — verify your server's video interface before ordering. If your target machine uses HDMI or VGA, a different adapter variant from the KA71xx family (e.g. KA7166 for HDMI or KA7170 for VGA) applies instead.

Installation Notes

Connect the two USB Type-A male connectors to the target computer's USB ports (keyboard and mouse channels) and the DisplayPort male connector to the computer's DisplayPort output. The adapter draws no external power — bus-powered via USB. The storage temperature range of -20–60°C applies to transit and warehousing; confirm your rack environment stays within the operating temperature limits specified by the connected KVM switch. No tools are required for connection.
