Description

ATEN VC985 DisplayPort to HDMI Active Adapter

Overview

The ATEN VC985 is a single-connector DisplayPort-to-HDMI adapter that bridges a DisplayPort 1.2 source output to an HDMI 1.3 display or receiver — no external power, no driver installation, no additional cabling. The VC985 handles the signal conversion inline, making it the right pick when you need to connect a DP-native workstation, KVM output, or matrix switcher port to an HDMI monitor, projector, or video wall input without running new cable infrastructure. It fits directly into the DisplayPort male port (white connector) and presents a standard HDMI Type A female (black connector) for your existing HDMI cable.

Compatibility

Source side requires a DisplayPort 1.2 output — compatible with ATEN KVM switches and matrix switchers carrying DP outputs, as well as DP-equipped workstations and servers. Display side accepts any device with a standard HDMI 1.3 input, including HDMI monitors, commercial displays, and HDMI-input video processors. Note that HDMI 1.3 caps bandwidth below DisplayPort 1.2's ceiling — if your source is driving 4K or multi-stream (MST) over DP1.2, confirm your target display and content resolution fall within HDMI 1.3's single-link ceiling (up to 1080p/60 or 1440p depending on pixel clock) before deploying.

Installation Notes

Operating humidity is rated 0–80% RH non-condensing — suitable for standard indoor AV and IT rack environments but not appropriate for humid or outdoor enclosures. No tools required; the adapter seats directly on the DP port. Ensure the source port is DP1.2-compliant; older DP1.1 sources may have interoperability limitations with downstream HDMI timing. Ships in carton lots of 40 units — useful for bulk AV integration projects requiring uniform adapters across multiple workstations or rack positions.
