Overview

The Ubiquiti UNVR-INSTANT-KIT-US is a purpose-built 1U rack-mount NVR designed to centralize video storage and playback for UniFi Protect camera deployments. This model handles up to 60 HD (1080p), 30 2K, or 18 4K managed cameras across a single rack unit, making it suitable for branch offices, retail facilities, and distributed campuses running native UniFi surveillance ecosystems. The quad-core ARM Cortex-A57 processor (1.7GHz, 4GB RAM) handles real-time video indexing and metadata processing. Dual network interfaces—a 10G SFP+ port and Gigabit Ethernet RJ45—allow high-bitrate camera streams to bypass management traffic, critical when multiple 4K cameras feed the same recorder. Internal 120W AC/DC power supply allocates 75W to drive operations, keeping total system draw under 100W. NDAA-compliant design with CE, FCC, IC, SRRC, and Anatel certifications suits federal and international deployments.

Compatibility

The UNVR-INSTANT-KIT-US integrates directly with UniFi Protect camera families and UniFi Access control hubs (supports 150 hubs). It manages native UniFi Protect video streams and metadata through the UniFi Protect and UniFi Access management applications. The 10G SFP+ port accommodates high-speed fiber or copper SFP modules for network extension; the Gigabit Ethernet port serves management and backup camera feeds. Storage is agnostic—accepts both 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch SATA HDDs or SSDs in four drive bays (3.5-inch recommended for capacity). Requires UniFi Protect or UniFi Access licensing and controller connectivity via standard Ethernet management channel.

Installation Notes

Mount in a standard 19-inch equipment rack (1U footprint: 442 × 325 × 44 mm, 5.1 kg without brackets). Ambient operating range is -5 to 40°C (23–104°F) with 5–95% noncondensing humidity tolerance—suitable for climate-controlled server rooms or passive-cooled branch closets. Universal AC input accepts 100–240V, 50/60 Hz at 2A maximum; includes internal redundant power via optional USP-RPS DC input (11.5V DC, 10.43A). Hard drive hot-swap bays support tool-free installation. Configure management Ethernet on the Gigabit RJ45 port; assign the 10G SFP+ port for high-bitrate camera ingress or leave unpopulated if Gigabit throughput suffices. No external power supply or fans required.
