Overview

The VE1843 is a HDBaseT 3.0 transceiver that extends True 4K HDMI video and USB 2.0 data over a single structured-cabling run — eliminating the distance limits of native HDMI in boardrooms, digital signage deployments, and remote workstation setups. At 100m over HDBaseT3-certified Cat 6a U/FTP (or ATEN's tailor-made HDBaseT cable), it delivers 4K×2K @ 60Hz 4:4:4 — full chroma, no subsampling — so source and display stay bit-for-bit accurate. Flip the onboard slide switch to Long Reach mode and the VE1843 extends 1080p to 150m over Cat 6 or above, trading resolution for distance where cabling runs are long but 4K is unnecessary.

Compatibility

Works within the ATEN AV-over-IP and KVM extension line as part of a point-to-point or matrix HDBaseT 3.0 system. On the video side, it accepts HDMI sources up to 4K (3840×2160 @ 60Hz 4:4:4, 4096×2160 @ 50/60Hz 4:2:0, and 2560×1440 @ 75Hz), plus legacy resolutions down to 480p — covering the full range of video extension scenarios from 4K presentation systems to legacy display integration. The USB channel (Type B host + Type A device) supports HID peripherals, USB storage, and KVM applications at up to 300Mbps — useful when a remote workstation needs keyboard, mouse, or peripheral access without a second cable run. Audio break-out is via a 3.5mm stereo mini jack, letting you feed a local amp or powered speaker without a separate audio extractor. Pair with a compatible ATEN HDBaseT 3.0 transmitter unit; the VE1843 operates as a transceiver in matched-pair deployments and requires a DC-locking power jack for power — check your installation's power provisioning before ordering.

Installation Notes

Maximum reach at 4K 4:4:4 requires HDBaseT3-certified Cat 6a U/FTP cable or ATEN's own HDBaseT cable — standard Cat 6 will not reliably achieve the full 100m at that signal quality. For Long Reach 1080p @ 150m, Cat 6 or Cat 6a is acceptable. Operating humidity ceiling is 80% RH non-condensing; avoid plenum runs in high-moisture environments without appropriate cable protection. The onboard Long Reach mode slide switch must be set before commissioning — toggling it mid-deployment requires a power cycle to take effect.
