TP-Link PSM900-AC 900W Hot-Swap Power Module
Overview
The PSM900-AC is a modular AC-input power supply rated for 900 watts continuous output at 53.5 VDC. Its primary value is eliminating planned downtime during power module replacement — the hot-swap design means you can pull the module and install a replacement without powering down the switch. This directly reduces MTTR in network closets and data centers where switch availability is non-negotiable. The module accepts 100–240V AC input (50/60 Hz) and includes internal overvoltage, undervoltage, short-circuit, and overcurrent protection, plus ±6 kV surge protection — standard safeguards for enterprise switching environments.
Compatibility
The PSM900-AC is designed for TP-Link's Omada and Omada Pro L3 managed switch families. Confirmed compatible models include the SG6654XHP, SG6428XHP, S6500-24GP4XF, S6500-48GP6XF, S6500-24MPP4Y, and S6500-48MPP6Y. These switches feature redundant hot-swappable power slots designed for this module form factor. If you operate other TP-Link switches, verify module compatibility in the target switch datasheet before procurement — not all TP-Link models support modular power architecture. The module is not compatible with non-TP-Link switches.
Installation Notes
Hot-swappability requires the host switch to have designated redundant power bays. Install the PSM900-AC into the appropriate slot without powering down the switch. The module draws up to 12A at 100–120V or 10A at 120–240V input, depending on regional voltage. Ensure adequate ventilation around the module; the internal cooling fan requires unobstructed airflow at intake and exhaust. Do not block vents during operation. Operating temperature range is 0°C to 45°C (32°F to 113°F); storage range is −40°C to 70°C. The module is not field-serviceable — if failure occurs, replace as a unit. For mission-critical N+1 redundancy, deploy two PSM900-AC modules with dual AC power inputs on the switch.
