TP-Link EAP650 AX3000 Dual-Band Wi-Fi 6 Access Point
Overview
The EAP650 is a ceiling-mount access point designed for office, retail, and warehouse deployments requiring centralized Wi-Fi 6 coverage without exceeding standard PoE infrastructure. It delivers 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz and 2402 Mbps on 5 GHz — totaling 2976 Mbps — meaning you can support high-density mobile device environments (scanners, tablets, laptops) without proportional throughput collapse across dozens of simultaneous connections. The single compact form factor reduces ceiling cabling runs compared to distributed pole or wall mounts.
Compatibility
The EAP650 integrates with TP-Link's Omada SDN platform for centralized provisioning, monitoring, and roaming management across multiple access points. It connects via standard RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet (one port serves both backhaul and device management) and accepts 802.3at PoE (15.4W max) or 12VDC auxiliary power. Works with Omada Software Controller, Omada Hardware Controller, and the Omada mobile app for remote monitoring and band steering — automatic client migration between 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz based on signal strength and congestion.
Installation Notes
The EAP650 ships with wall-mounting hardware and operates across 0 °C to 40 °C (32 °F to 104 °F). PoE power eliminates the need for AC runs to ceiling locations, a significant advantage in retrofit installations. A single RJ45 run handles both data backhaul and management traffic, reducing conduit labor. The unit supports 16 SSIDs (8 per band), MAC filtering for up to 4,000 devices, and WPA3 encryption — standard enterprise security controls. Beamforming and airtime fairness prevent any single client from saturating the spectrum, critical in congested logistics or retail floor operations where scanner traffic competes with mobile user traffic.
