Description

Middle Atlantic FC-4-1CA Thermostatic Fan Controller

Overview

The Middle Atlantic FC-4-1CA is an active thermostatic fan controller designed for rack enclosure thermal management. It controls up to four 120 VAC fans through a single NEMA 1-15R receptacle arrangement, automatically switching fans on or off in response to temperature changes inside the enclosure — eliminating constant-on fan noise and wear in AV and security equipment racks. The FC-4-1CA is the right choice for integrators deploying Middle Atlantic rack enclosures or any 120 VAC rack cooling system where you want temperature-responsive fan control rather than manual or always-on operation. The active component type means the controller actively monitors and responds to thermal conditions, rather than simply passing power through.

Compatibility

Designed for use with rack cooling accessories and fan trays operating at 120 VAC with a combined fan load not exceeding 1 amp. Compatible with Middle Atlantic fan trays and ventilation panels that use NEMA 1-15R connections. The 1A max load rating is the critical constraint: a single 120V fan typically draws 0.2–0.5A, so this controller supports two to four fans depending on individual fan draw — verify your fan tray's combined amperage before specifying. Not suitable for 240 VAC systems or fan arrays exceeding 1A total load. TAA non-compliant — do not specify for U.S. federal government projects with TAA requirements. For enclosure sizing and rack planning, reference a rack enclosure guide before selecting fan quantity.

Installation Notes

Dimensions are 4 in (W) × 8.45 in (H) × 2.68 in (D), sized for standard rack panel mounting. Shipping weight is 3.9 lbs. Receptacle type is NEMA 1-15R — confirm your fan tray plugs match before ordering, as NEMA 1-15R is an unpolarized two-prong configuration. No grounding pin. Install in a dry indoor environment; no environmental ingress rating is documented for this unit, so it is not suitable for outdoor or wash-down locations. Rack accessories such as blanking panels and cable management should be installed alongside for complete enclosure thermal integrity.
