Description

APC by Schneider Electric APCRBC133 Replacement Battery Cartridge

Overview

The APCRBC133 is a genuine APC Replacement Battery Cartridge designed to restore full runtime capacity to compatible Smart-UPS units when the original battery reaches end of service life. Using a genuine cartridge — not a third-party substitute — keeps the UPS management interface reporting accurate runtime estimates, preserves low-battery alarm thresholds calibrated to the original cell chemistry, and maintains the UPS manufacturer warranty. Install this in an SMT750-series unit when the UPS self-test flags a bad battery or when runtime under load has degraded below your site's minimum acceptable threshold.

Compatibility

The APCRBC133 is engineered for the APC Smart-UPS SMT750 family, including the SMT750, SMT750RM2U (rack-mount 2U), SMT750RMI2U, and SMT750I. Verify your UPS model number against APC's published RBC cross-reference before ordering — the SMT750 line uses RBC133; adjacent models in the Smart-UPS lineup use different cartridge numbers and are not interchangeable. A mismatch will result in incorrect runtime reporting and may prevent the UPS from completing self-test. If you are replacing batteries in a multi-module or extended runtime configuration, confirm whether your chassis requires one or multiple RBC133 cartridges.

Installation Notes

Battery replacement on SMT750-series units is a hot-swap procedure — the UPS does not need to be powered down or load-disconnected during the swap, though best practice is to transfer connected equipment to an alternate circuit before opening the battery compartment. The cartridge slides into the front-access bay; no tools are required for the physical swap. After installation, initiate a runtime calibration cycle from the UPS management interface or APC Network Management Card to synchronize the charge gauge with the new cells. Dispose of the removed cartridge through a certified battery recycling program — sealed lead-acid batteries are regulated waste in most jurisdictions. Operating temperature range for storage and operation follows the host UPS specifications; do not install in environments exceeding the UPS ambient rating.
