The AT-MMC2000/SC-960 is a TAA-compliant gigabit media and rate converter from Allied Telesis that bridges 10/100/1000BASE-T copper infrastructure to 1000BASE-SX multimode fiber over an SC connector interface. It is built for government and federal procurement environments where Trade Agreements Act compliance is a hard requirement, and carries a multi-region power supply configuration so it can be deployed across facilities with varying local AC standards without swapping adapters. The AT-MMC2000/SC-960 addresses the core problem in mixed-media network builds: extending or interconnecting Ethernet copper runs beyond the 100-meter copper limit by converting the link to fiber at the edge — keeping existing copper-cabled endpoints while gaining the distance and noise-immunity of a multimode fiber span. This is a practical fit for enterprise network infrastructure builds inside government facilities, secured campus environments, and surveillance backbone segments where TAA sourcing is audited at procurement. As a standalone converter handling auto-negotiation across 10/100/1000T speeds, it accommodates mixed-speed upstream and downstream links without manual speed configuration, reducing mis-match errors during commissioning. For integrators planning switch infrastructure alongside fiber media conversion, confirm whether the upstream switch port requires auto-MDIX support — the SC fiber side locks to 1000SX and does not fall back to lower fiber speeds.
The AT-MMC2000/SC-960 connects to any 10/100/1000BASE-T Ethernet device on the copper side — including IP cameras, access control panels, PoE-injected endpoints, and standard switch ports — and terminates to 1000BASE-SX multimode fiber on the SC port side. The SC duplex interface is compatible with standard 50/125µm and 62.5/125µm multimode fiber patch cables. It is designed for use within the Allied Telesis media converter ecosystem and is compatible with Allied Telesis chassis-based converter systems that accept the MMC2000 form factor, as well as standalone desktop operation. Verify chassis slot compatibility with your specific Allied Telesis chassis model before ordering if chassis deployment is intended.
Multi-region power input means no external voltage selection switch is required — the internal supply auto-ranges. The SC fiber port requires a duplex SC multimode patch cable; single-mode cable will not function with the SX (multimode) optic. Keep multimode runs within the 550-meter limit at gigabit speeds on 50µm fiber (or 220 meters on 62.5µm) — exceeding these distances causes link instability that can be misdiagnosed as a converter fault.
