Description

Allied Telesis AT-MMC2000LX/LC-960 Gigabit Single-Mode Mini Media Converter

Overview

The Allied Telesis AT-MMC2000LX/LC-960 is a TAA-compliant mini media and rate converter that bridges 10/100/1000BASE-T copper infrastructure to 1000BASE-LX fiber over LC single-mode connections — extending your network reach up to 20km. This form factor targets installations where copper runs can't span the required distance: campus backbone links, inter-building security network segments, or surveillance deployments where IP cameras or access control systems sit well beyond standard Ethernet's 100-meter limit. The auto-negotiating copper port handles mixed-speed edge devices without manual configuration, while the fiber side locks to Gigabit — giving you a clean rate conversion that prevents a slower edge device from dragging down the fiber backbone segment.

Compatibility

Designed for use with Allied Telesis chassis-based media conversion systems that accept 960-series mini converter blades, including the AT-MCR12 and compatible modular chassis platforms. The LC single-mode fiber interface mates with standard 1000LX SFP-based switches, NVRs, and fiber patch panels terminating in LC connectors. On the copper side, the RJ-45 port accepts standard Cat5e/Cat6 patch cables from any 10/100/1000BASE-T device — IP cameras, PoE switches, access control panels, or workstations. Verify chassis slot compatibility with your specific Allied Telesis modular enclosure before ordering; this converter is slot-specific to the 960-series blade form factor and will not seat in unrelated chassis.

Installation Notes

Single-mode fiber at 1000LX requires compatible single-mode patch cables and single-mode SFP transceivers on the far-end switch — multimode fiber and transceivers will not work at this wavelength and distance. The 20km reach assumes a clean, low-loss single-mode fiber path; actual link budget depends on splice count, connector quality, and cable age. Power is drawn from the host chassis — no separate power supply is needed for the converter blade itself.
