The AT-PC200/SC-960 is a TAA-compliant 100Mbps PoE+ media converter from Allied Telesis designed to bridge copper Ethernet runs to SC-connector multimode or singlemode fiber infrastructure while simultaneously delivering IEEE 802.3at PoE+ power to a connected endpoint. The practical deployment fit is any IP security or access control installation where a PoE-capable edge device — an IP camera, access reader, or intercom — sits beyond copper distance limits, and the intervening plant is already fiber. Rather than running new copper or adding a midspan, this unit converts the link at the fiber demarcation point and passes power over the copper side, keeping the fiber run intact. Browse the full Allied Telesis networking line for compatible switching and media conversion products. For campus and multi-building installations, see the media converters category for additional SC and ST fiber options. If you're planning power budgets across a PoE deployment, the PoE switches section covers upstream switching options that feed converters like this one. For structured cabling accessories that complete the copper-side termination, the network accessories category is worth a look.
The AT-PC200/SC-960 is compatible with any 10/100Mbps Ethernet device on the copper side that accepts IEEE 802.3at (PoE+) power — including fixed-lens and varifocal IP cameras from Axis, Hanwha, Hikvision, and Dahua rated at 30W or below, as well as HID, Lenel, and Mercury access control readers with standard RJ-45 interfaces. The fiber side uses an SC connector and supports Allied Telesis AT-PC200/SC series fiber specifications; verify your fiber type (multimode vs. singlemode) and wavelength against the Allied Telesis AT-PC200/SC product family documentation before ordering, as SC-960 denotes a specific fiber distance or wavelength variant within the family. This converter does not support Gigabit speeds — endpoints requiring 1Gbps links (such as multi-sensor panoramic cameras or high-bitrate encoders) require a Gigabit-class media converter instead.
Mount the unit at the fiber termination point closest to the powered device to minimize the copper run and reduce PoE voltage drop. Ensure the upstream PoE switch or injector feeding the fiber converter's copper port supports pass-through PoE+ budgeting — the converter itself is not a PoE source for the fiber side. Verify SC connector polish type (UPC vs. APC) matches your fiber patch panel before installation; APC connectors (green) are not interchangeable with UPC (blue) without signal loss. TAA compliance makes this unit suitable for U.S. federal procurement programs subject to Trade Agreements Act requirements — confirm your project's TAA obligation before substituting a non-TAA alternative.
