Overview

The Middle Atlantic SFR-12-18 is a 12U open-back swing-frame wall rack built for installations where rear cable access would otherwise require pulling the entire enclosure away from the wall. At 18 inches deep and 19 inches wide, it accommodates full-depth 1U and 2U gear while its 90° swing-out mechanism — hinged to swing left or right — gives direct access to rear terminations without disturbing mounted equipment. The SFR-12-18 is purpose-built for telecom closets, head-end rooms, and equipment rooms where floor space is constrained and rear access is a recurring maintenance requirement. Its 100 lb load capacity handles typical mixes of patch panels, managed switches, NVRs, and access control hardware across all 12 rack units. A black powder coat finish resists corrosion and wear in utility environments. The open-back form factor improves passive airflow — a practical advantage in closets without active cooling. Accepts any standard 19-inch rack-mount equipment up to 12U and 18 inches deep. The 21-inch racking height (27.25 inches overall) suits standard rack-unit equipment from any manufacturer. For deeper equipment — servers, full-depth UPS units, or extended chassis — verify your deepest device against the 18-inch usable depth before specifying. This rack does not provide a door, side panels, or locking enclosure; where physical security of the enclosure is required, pair with a locking wall-mount cabinet from the same series.

Installation Notes

Mounts directly to wall studs or a solid backing structure rated to support the combined weight of the rack and loaded equipment — the 100 lb capacity assumes a properly anchored installation. The swing mechanism operates left or right, so verify clearance on both sides before committing to a mounting location; the frame needs at least 18 inches of clear swing arc. Overall installed height is 27.25 inches; plan rough-in accordingly. No active cooling is included — verify ambient temperature in the installation space is adequate for the heat output of installed equipment.
