Overview

The PMG4S-A is a hardwired panel-mount surge suppressor rated for 480/277V three-phase wye distribution systems — the supply voltage found in most mid-to-large commercial buildings, manufacturing facilities, and data-center utility rooms. At 160,000A peak let-through current in normal mode, it is sized for sites where a utility-side strike or capacitor-bank switching event would otherwise damage downstream power distribution equipment, security infrastructure, or building automation hardware. The built-in surge counter provides a verifiable maintenance record: when the counter climbs, you have documented evidence of cumulative stress on the device without pulling meters or guessing. The grey steel enclosure measures 316 × 152 × 356 mm, designed for direct panel or wall mounting adjacent to the service entrance or main distribution board.

Compatibility

Designed for 480/277V four-wire wye (WYE) services operating at 50–60 Hz — the standard utility delivery voltage across North American commercial and light-industrial facilities. The PMG4S-A installs at the service entrance or main distribution panel to protect the full downstream load, making it appropriate upstream of PoE switch panels, UPS arrays, and building-wide low-voltage systems. It is not rated for 208/120V wye systems or 480V delta services — confirm your service configuration before ordering. The 30 dB EMI/RFI attenuation also benefits sensitive analog and IP security cameras and access control equipment fed from the same distribution panel.

Installation Notes

Operating temperature range is -20°C to 65°C; the unit can be pre-installed in unconditioned electrical rooms or exterior utility cabinets that stay within that window. The on/off disconnect switch is built in, allowing the SPD branch to be isolated for service without shutting down the panel.
