Overview
The STI-9731 is a protective wire cage built from 9-gauge hard-drawn steel (0.148 inch diameter) with polyester powder coating in sky white. It mounts over lock cylinders, strikes, and related hardware to prevent accidental or intentional damage during installation, maintenance, and normal building operations. Use this when you need a passive mechanical barrier—no electronics, no power, no integration required—just a physical guard that absorbs impact and keeps hardware intact on doors in high-traffic areas or where tools and equipment pass nearby.
Compatibility
The STI-9731 works with any standard mortise or cylindrical lock installation and strike assembly. Mounting is mechanical and tool-agnostic: four anchor points, drilled into the door or frame, accept the supplied anchors and screws. This accessory does not interact with electronic access control panels, readers, or credential systems—it sits in front of the hardware being protected. Pair it with any lock model or access control system where you need surface-level damage prevention.
Installation Notes
Mounting requires drilling four 1/4-inch diameter holes, 1-1/2 inches deep, at the marked anchor points. The guard dimensions (approximately 10.84 inches wide × 9.36 inches tall × 8.78 inches deep at the base) position it slightly proud of the door surface; account for door swing clearance and adjacent hardware when siting. Insert the supplied anchors into drilled holes, position the guard, insert the four screws, and tighten. No special tools beyond a standard 1/4-inch drill bit and basic screwdriver are needed. Installation is permanent—plan mounting location before drilling.
