Overview
The STI-9731-BK is a black cable protection guard designed to shield wiring from physical damage in access control and security system installations. Wire guards prevent crushing, pinching, and abrasion damage to control cables running through high-traffic areas, equipment racks, or confined spaces. This accessory extends cable service life and reduces risk of unplanned system downtime from damaged conductors. Install over cable runs where foot traffic, equipment movement, or mechanical stress poses a damage risk.
Compatibility
The STI-9731-BK works with standard cable runs and conduit installations across access control systems, door readers, intercom wiring, and general security system cabling. Compatible with most cable gauges and bundle sizes found in commercial security deployments. Integrators use this guard in parallel with cable trays, conduit, and rack-mounted control panels to add redundant mechanical protection.
Installation Notes
Installation requires drilling six 1/4-inch-diameter holes (1-1/2 inches deep) into the mounting surface. Six plastic anchors and six Phillips pan-head screws (10 x 1-1/2 inch) are supplied. Center the guard over the cable bundle, mark all six hole locations, drill, insert anchors, position the guard, insert screws, and tighten securely. Approximate overall dimensions are 16.57 inches wide × 12.41 inches deep × 14.47 inches height. Use a standard 1/4-inch drill bit and Phillips screwdriver — no specialized tools required.
