Overview
The STI-8100-W is a flush-mount polycarbonate protective enclosure designed to shield smoke detectors from accidental or intentional damage in commercial and institutional environments. Install it in high-traffic areas, vulnerable locations, or facilities where detector integrity must be protected against physical contact, obstruction, or tampering. The white finish integrates with standard ceiling surfaces. Slots in the enclosure are sized to prevent even a pencil from passing through — effective obstruction prevention without blocking detector optics or airflow to the sensing element.
Compatibility
The STI-8100-W accommodates existing smoke detector form factors in standard flush-mount ceiling cavity installations. It pairs with fire safety systems where detector accessibility must be restricted while maintaining functional airflow and optical clarity. For unstable or uneven mounting surfaces, STI offers the optional STI-8171 backplate to ensure stable mounting. For surface-mount or exposed-conduit applications, the STI-8200 series provides the equivalent protection in a surface-mount configuration.
Installation Notes
Flush-mount installation requires cavity preparation in drywall or suspended ceiling. The enclosure mounts directly into the cavity opening without exposed conduit or surface-mounted hardware. If the mounting surface is unstable or uneven, the STI-8171 backplate is recommended to distribute load and ensure suitable protection. No special tools or wiring are required beyond standard ceiling installation hardware.
