Description

STI STI-7510A Polycarbonate Enclosure with Deep Back Box

Overview

The STI-7510A is a NEMA 4X polycarbonate enclosure designed to protect access control hardware, electronic strikes, readers, and associated wiring from physical damage, water spray, dust, and corrosion in outdoor and harsh-environment installations. The deep back box configuration accommodates standard lock/strike mechanisms, credential readers, and wiring runs without external conduit extensions. Built-in radiant heating plate maintains operating temperature above freezing, allowing deployment in unheated warehouses, loading docks, exterior doorways, and cold-storage environments where LCD displays and electronic components would otherwise freeze or malfunction.

Compatibility

The STI-7510A integrates with standard access control hardware including electromagnetic strikes, magnetic locks, push-to-exit buttons, and reader mounting assemblies common in commercial access control systems. The enclosure accommodates both surface-mount and semi-recessed (deep back box) installation configurations. Compatible with 12, 16.5, and 24 VAC/VDC power supplies — the heating element operates across this voltage range without modification. Wiring entry points and conduit knockouts support standard electrical and data cabling used in modern security integrations.

Installation Notes

Mounting hardware and weathertight seals are included. The polycarbonate construction handles operating temperatures from −40 °F to 250 °F (−40 °C to 121 °C). The enclosure incorporates three thermostats: one for heating control, one for overheat safety cutoff, and an alarm indicator. External key or thumb-turn lock prevents unauthorized access to enclosed electronics. Verify mounting surface can support the loaded enclosure weight and ensure adequate clearance around hinges and lock for service access. In high-vandalism environments, the polycarbonate shell resists impact better than thin steel, but inspect for stress cracks after impacts — the three-year polycarbonate warranty (one year on heating components) covers manufacturing defects under normal use.
