Overview

The EF201610-O2 is a NEMA 4-rated fiberglass enclosure designed to house and protect access control hardware, electronic components, and control panels in harsh outdoor and sub-freezing environments. This model combines opaque fiberglass construction with integrated heating and A/C capability, allowing you to deploy electronics outdoors, in unheated warehouses, freezers, or external storage units where temperature management is critical. The radiant heating plate prevents LCD screens from freezing or becoming sluggish, maintaining operational performance in extreme cold while the climate control system prevents condensation and thermal stress. Mounting hardware and weathertight seals are included.

Compatibility

The EF201610-O2 accommodates a wide range of access control panels, strike controllers, power supplies, and electronic devices up to the internal envelope dimensions. It is suitable for protecting STI-brand access control systems and third-party commercial-grade control modules designed for external mounting. The heating and A/C system operates on 12, 16.5, or 24 VAC/VDC input, making it compatible with most standard access control power supplies and panel outputs without additional conversion hardware.

Installation Notes

The enclosure includes three thermostats: a primary control thermostat for heating/cooling setpoint, a secondary safety thermostat for overheat protection, and an alarm indicator. Mounting hardware and gaskets are factory-supplied. Ensure the selected installation location allows adequate airflow around vents if the A/C system is active. The radiant heating element operates continuously in freeze-prevention mode once power is applied; configure the control thermostat to your ambient temperature requirements. Polycarbonate properties range from −40° to 250°F (−40° to 121°C), limiting use in extreme-high-temperature industrial settings.
