STI STI-6254 Cabinet Alarm Lock/Strike
Overview
The STI-6254 is a compact 9VDC alarm lock designed to protect fire extinguishers, cabinets, and free-standing equipment from unauthorized removal or tampering. Measuring 3.37 inches wide by 1 inch deep, it deploys via a mechanical clip that threads through the pull pin of a fire extinguisher — when the pin is withdrawn, the alarm triggers immediately. The 95dB alarm (at 1 meter) provides audible deterrence without interfering with emergency use of the protected equipment.
Compatibility
The STI-6254 works with standard fire extinguisher pull-pin designs and can mount directly on cabinet doors, strike plates, or underneath any equipment where a clip-based activation mechanism fits. Reed switch and magnet activation eliminates dependency on proximity readers or powered credential systems — the alarm fires purely from mechanical displacement, making it compatible with passive installations where no network integration is required.
Installation Notes
The unit comes with a universal steel clip that accommodates various pull-pin geometries. Install by routing the fire extinguisher's pull pin through the clip's tines; the clip itself is held in place by the equipment's existing seals or mounting surfaces. Powered by a self-contained 9VDC alkaline battery (no external power required), the alarm automatically resets after 3 minutes, allowing the device to re-arm without intervention. No wiring, no network configuration, no tools beyond basic bracket positioning are needed. The robust ABS enclosure (3-year manufacturer warranty against housing breakage; 1-year on electromechanical/electronic components) withstands cabinet-mounted environments and outdoor fire-extinguisher cabinets.
