Description

STI STI-6583 24-Volt Heater Kit

Overview

The STI-6583 is a 24VDC supplemental heater designed to maintain reliable operation of STI electronic lock and strike assemblies in cold or unheated environments. Cold temperatures degrade solenoid response time and can cause mechanical binding in strike mechanisms — this kit mitigates those failures by providing localized thermal regulation. Deploy it on exterior-mounted strikes, loading dock entry points, or unheated storage areas where ambient temperature drops below the lock mechanism's operating range.

Compatibility

The STI-6583 integrates with STI electronic lock and strike systems rated for 24VDC operation. Verify your specific strike or lock model supports 24VDC input before ordering. Installation requires a dedicated 24VDC power circuit or integration into an existing access control panel's 24VDC auxiliary output. Consult the lock or strike datasheet for thermal input specifications.

Installation Notes

Mount the heater assembly in direct contact with or immediately adjacent to the strike or lock body to maximize thermal transfer. Use stainless steel fasteners in outdoor installations to prevent corrosion. Ensure the heater does not block mechanical movement of the strike bolt or lock latch. Wire the heater directly to a dedicated 24VDC supply or through a relay controlled by the access control panel. Do not exceed 24VDC nominal input — overvoltage will damage the heating element. In wet environments (outdoor rain exposure), use conduit protection for all power wiring and ensure IP-rated connectors at cable entry points.
