Overview

The FDX60S1AM is a single-channel serial fiber optic transceiver designed to extend RS232, RS422, or 2- and 4-wire RS485 data signals over long-distance fiber runs without electrical isolation concerns or EMI coupling. Deploy this where PTZ cameras, door controllers, access readers, or other serial devices need to communicate across distances — parking lots to master stations, remote antenna arrays to command centers — without ground loops or RF interference. The FDX60S1AM accepts 9–30 VDC input, draws 2 W, and handles data rates up to 250 kbps. With ST connectors and a choice of single-mode or multimode fiber, it integrates into existing surveillance fiber backbone infrastructure.

Compatibility

The FDX60S1AM works with any serial device that outputs or receives RS232 (async TTL/EIA), RS422 (differential 2-wire), or RS485 (2-wire or 4-wire half-duplex). Common integrations include Pelco D/P protocol PTZ cameras, Honeywell/Ademco access control panels, and Axis/Hikvision devices with serial command ports. Pair it with a matching fiber-optic transceiver at the remote end — multimode units reach 4 km; single-mode units reach 69 km. Installation Notes

Mount the FDX60S1AM in a 1U rack slot (Mini form factor, 4.1 × 3.7 × 1.1 in) or as a standalone desktop unit. Wire the serial port (DB-9 or RJ-45 connector; confirm pinout with your device) and apply 9–30 VDC — no polarity protection, so verify input voltage. Fiber connectors are ST; clean endfaces before seating to avoid signal loss. Operating range: −40°C to +75°C (−40°F to +167°F); handle 0–95% relative humidity without condensation. Bit error rate is <10⁻⁹ under specification. At distances approaching the fiber limit (multimode 4 km, single-mode 69 km), confirm optical power budgets with your fiber plant documentation — multimode yields 16 dB budget; single-mode yields 23 dB. MTBF exceeds 100,000 hours.
