Overview

The Comnet FDX60M1AM is a small-form fiber optic transceiver that extends RS232, RS422, or 2/4-wire RS485 data signals over single fiber at distances up to 69 km (singlemode) or 4 km (multimode). It converts copper serial protocols to optical and back — solving the problem of long-distance RS data transport in environments where electrical isolation and noise immunity matter (industrial networks, CCTV systems with remote PTZ or device control, distributed security installations). The FDX60M1AM operates full-duplex or simplex, handles data rates to 250 kbps, and works bidirectionally, meaning the same fiber carries both transmit and receive signals. Common deployment: remote camera sites that need PTZ control or sensor readback over fiber without running separate copper control cables or dealing with ground loops.

Compatibility

This transceiver is protocol-agnostic — it passes any RS232, RS422, or RS485 signal, so it integrates with PTZ controllers, NVR/DVR serial interfaces, access control systems, industrial sensors, and any device with standard serial ports.
