SDC Z7252EQ Failsecure Strike with REX Output
Overview
The Z7252EQ is a 24VDC failsecure electrified cylindrical lockset built into the Electra™ 7200 Series. It solves the integration problem common in retrofit access control: replacing mechanical locksets without adding bulk strikes, magnetic locks, or separate request-to-exit modules. Designed for commercial, industrial, and institutional doors, the Z7252EQ integrates solenoid-controlled locking directly into the cylinder housing, maintaining fire-door integrity—the latch stays latched even when de-energized, keeping fire-rated openings compliant during power loss or manual override.
Compatibility
The Z7252EQ replaces most standard mechanical cylindrical locksets in new or retrofit construction. It works with networked access control systems via the standard latch status (LS) monitoring output and optional request-to-exit (REX) output for push-button or motion-sensor exit requests. Key and trim options—Eclipse Rose (ER) or Galaxy Rose (GR) in six finishes (dull/bright chrome, brass, bronze, dark oil rubbed)—allow installation in existing door hardware without visible modification. SFIC I-Core prep cylinders support master key integration when needed.
Installation Notes
Operates on field-selectable 12/24 VDC with an integral power regulator, eliminating the need for separate power supplies. Grade 1 heavy-duty cylindrical design with proprietary vandal-resistant clutch resists physical attack and forced entry. The solenoid responds to keyed latch retraction—controlled remotely via your access control system. Standard latch monitoring provides door status feedback; add REX monitoring to report manual exit requests in real time. Install the Z7252EQ in place of any standard cylindrical lock; existing door frames and hardware align without modification.
