The SDC 636RFA is a 6 amp power controller built to drive electric lock and strike hardware in multi-door access control installations. Operating at selectable 12/24 VDC output, this unit delivers the sustained current needed for inductive loads — solenoid strikes, mag locks, and electric latch retraction — without voltage sag across wiring runs or load switching transients. The modular cabinet design (16" × 14" × 6.5") accepts interchangeable control boards (VR, ACM, EMC, FB, UR1, CR, UR2, UR4, IPDC, IPDS) so you can configure relay logic, access control interfaces, battery charging, or emergency release sequences to match your specific door control topology.
The 636RFA integrates into any electric lock system requiring 6 amp output capacity and modular control logic. Select the application board for your scenario: the ACM (access control module) for card/code reader integration, the CR (relay controller) for contact-based switching, the IPDC or IPDS for networked access control systems, or the EMC (emergency module) for integrated fire/life safety release. Input power is standard 115 VAC, 50/60 Hz. The integrated 13.5/27 VDC, 500 mA battery charger supports standby power for battery backup systems. Cabinet is 16-gauge steel for security enclosure mounting.
The 636RFA cabinet mounts to standard electrical racks or wall enclosures. Inductive loads — solenoid strikes especially — require suppression diodes on relay outputs to prevent voltage spikes that degrade control electronics; confirm your selected board includes load protection or add external transient suppression per NEC Article 430. Wiring runs to remote strikes should use twisted pair or shielded cable sized for 6 amp current and kept under 250 feet to prevent voltage drop (a common source of inconsistent strike release in multi-building deployments). Cabinet weighs 25 lbs; account for support hardware if ceiling-mounting a remote cabinet.
