Description

APC by Schneider Electric AP9559 Rack-Mount Power Distribution Unit

Overview

The AP9559 is a 12-outlet, 1U rack-mountable power distribution unit from APC by Schneider Electric, designed to consolidate AC power delivery across equipment in a standard equipment rack. At 1.75 inches of rack height, it fits a single rack unit slot and keeps power delivery tidy in dense installations — security NVRs, network switches, PoE injectors, and access control panels are all typical loads. The black steel chassis measures 1.75 x 17.61 x 2.25 in., sized for 19-inch rack rails. With 12 outlets, the AP9559 handles multi-device rack builds without daisy-chaining power strips or overloading a single receptacle — a common wiring problem in surveillance head-end closets and network equipment rooms.

Compatibility

The AP9559 is a basic rack PDU with universal outlet spacing, making it compatible with standard 19-inch equipment racks from APC (NetShelter SX, SV, and CX series), as well as third-party enclosures from Tripp Lite, Eaton, and Middle Atlantic that accept 1U rack-mount accessories. It provides AC power distribution to any rack-mounted equipment drawing from standard receptacles — including NVRs, managed PoE switches, UPS bypass panels, and video management servers. Verify input plug type and voltage requirements against your facility's circuit specs before install; the AP9559 is a passive distribution unit with no built-in surge suppression or monitoring.

Installation Notes

Mounts in a single 1U rack space. Orient horizontally in the rack using standard rack-mount ears. Route input power cable from a UPS or dedicated circuit breaker to the PDU input; then connect individual devices to the 12 outlets. Because the AP9559 provides no switching or monitoring, device management and load balancing fall entirely on the upstream circuit and any connected UPS. Confirm rack rail depth clearance — the 2.25-inch depth fits most shallow-depth rack shelves without conflict.
