Description

APC by Schneider Electric AP9551 Rack Mount Power Distribution Unit

Overview

The AP9551 is a 14-outlet, 120V rack mount PDU from APC by Schneider Electric, designed to distribute power from a single NEMA L5-20P source across up to 14 devices in a standard equipment rack. With a 12-foot cord, it reaches wall outlets or UPS output receptacles without extension runs — the right fit for server rooms, network closets, and security equipment racks where clean power distribution and outlet density matter. If you're consolidating NVR systems, PoE switches, and ancillary gear into a single rack, the AP9551 eliminates the cable chaos of individual power strips while maintaining a low 1U-class profile.

Compatibility

Designed for standard 19-inch rack enclosures. The NEMA L5-20P twist-lock plug connects to any 20A, 120V UPS output receptacle or PDU-rated wall circuit using the matching L5-20R receptacle — common on rack-mount UPS units including APC Smart-UPS and Symmetra families. The 14 NEMA 5-15/20R outlets accommodate standard IEC-to-NEMA power cables used by most network video recorders, managed PoE switches, and rack-mount servers. Verify your UPS or circuit output is rated L5-20R before ordering — a standard NEMA 5-20R receptacle will not accept the L5-20P plug without an adapter.

Installation Notes

The 1.7-inch form factor fits in a standard 1U rack space. Route the 12-foot black cord to the nearest UPS output bank or dedicated 20A circuit. Confirm the total draw of connected devices does not exceed the circuit breaker rating — 14 outlets on a single 20A circuit leaves limited headroom if you're running power-hungry PoE switches or GPU-based analytics servers. Mount vertically in the rack with cord exit toward the power source to reduce strain on the L5-20P connector. Color is black; no color-matching considerations for rack aesthetics.
