Description

Vertiv VP4N60AJ Monitored Unit-Level Vertical PDU

Overview

The VP4N60AJ is a Vertiv monitored, unit-level vertical power distribution unit rated at 60A, 277/480V WYE input with 39.8kW total capacity. Designed for high-density data center cabinet rows, it delivers per-outlet monitoring at the unit level — giving operations teams granular visibility into individual load consumption without deploying a separate metering layer. The vertical form factor mounts flush in the rear of standard open-frame or enclosed cabinets, keeping the full front and sides clear for equipment access. At 82 inches deep (length along the vertical rail), the VP4N60AJ spans a full-height 42U cabinet run. This is the right unit when your facility runs three-phase 480V WYE distribution and you need outlet-level data without stepping up to switched PDU pricing.

Compatibility

Designed for Vertiv's Vertiv rack and cabinet ecosystem, this PDU integrates with Vertiv VRA (Vertical Rail Assembly) mounting systems used in Vertiv VR and VX series cabinets. The 36-outlet configuration uses Saf-D-Grid Series 400 connectors — a proprietary Vertiv format common across their high-density PDU line. Compatible server and networking equipment must use Saf-D-Grid Series 400 power cords; standard IEC C13/C19 cords do not mate with this outlet type. Input feed requires a 277/480V WYE three-phase branch circuit sized for 60A continuous load. Pair with Vertiv's Avocent or Geist management infrastructure for upstream DCIM integration if outlet-level data needs to feed a broader network management or DCIM platform.

Installation Notes

The unit weighs 34 lbs and measures 2.6 in (H) × 2.1 in (W) × 82 in (D) — confirm cabinet interior depth and vertical rail spacing before ordering. Input wiring terminates at 277/480V WYE; a licensed electrician familiar with three-phase high-voltage distribution is required. Saf-D-Grid outlet connectors are touch-safe by design, but verify all connected equipment ships with Series 400 power cords before deployment — retrofit cords are available separately from power accessories.
