Description

Vertiv VP1N62A3 Basic Upgradeable Horizontal Rack PDU

Overview

The Vertiv VP1N62A3 is a horizontally mounted, basic-tier upgradeable rack power distribution unit rated at 60A with a 277/480V WYE three-phase input — purpose-built for high-density data center cabinets and industrial compute racks where three-phase power delivery and a dense outlet count are non-negotiable. At 39.8kW capacity, VP1N62A3 handles the sustained load of fully populated server chassis or GPU nodes without thermal or capacity headroom concerns. The 2U horizontal form factor (3.49 in H × 17.12 in W × 12 in D) slots into standard 19-inch rack rails and keeps vertical rack space free for additional equipment density.

Compatibility

Designed for deployment in Vertiv VR- and VX-series open-frame and enclosed cabinets that accept horizontal 2U PDU mounting. The 277/480V WYE input requires a matching three-phase branch circuit — verify your PDU panel or in-row power infrastructure delivers a 60A, 277/480V WYE feed before commissioning. The 24-outlet configuration uses Saf-D-Grid Series 400 connectors, which are keyed safety connectors found on Vertiv Geist and legacy Liebert rPDU ecosystems; confirm your power cords and server PSU whips terminate in Anderson Saf-D-Grid Series 400 plugs, as these are not interchangeable with standard NEMA or IEC C13/C19 receptacles. The 'Basic Upgradeable' designation means this unit ships without a monitoring module but accepts field-installation of a Vertiv Geist monitoring upgrade card, allowing conversion to a metered or switched PDU without replacing the chassis.

Installation Notes

Unit weight is 31 lb — plan for a two-person lift when mounting horizontally at upper rack positions. The 12-inch depth is shallower than many full-depth rack PDUs; confirm clearance against rear cable management arms in deep cabinets. Saf-D-Grid outlets require correct plug orientation for engagement — do not force standard IEC cords into these ports. Route the three-phase input whip before mounting; access to the inlet is constrained once the unit is railed into a populated rack.
