Overview

The Viking 40TB-IP is a PoE-powered ceiling/wall speaker built for two-way SIP conversations and multicast paging in commercial and industrial environments. Powered entirely over a single Cat5e/Cat6 run via 802.3af PoE Class 3 (under 13W), it eliminates the need for a local power supply — simplifying installation in drop-ceiling spaces, corridors, and warehouses where running AC is impractical. The 6W Class D amplifier delivers up to 105 dB SPL at 1 meter, giving the 40TB-IP enough output for loud industrial bays without an external amp. A built-in relay output lets you trigger door locks, strobe lights, or external amplifiers directly from a call event, and the line output supports up to five additional analog speakers for zone expansion without a separate distribution amp. SIP 2.0 (RFC 3261) compliance means it registers on any standards-based IP PBX. G.711u, G.711a, and G.722 codec support ensures compatibility with both legacy telephony infrastructure and wideband SIP trunks.

The 40TB-IP integrates with Viking Electronics IP audio products including the SA-1S, 30AE, 35AE, 40AE, and 40-IP speaker models — useful when building out a mixed IP paging system that combines ceiling and horn speakers. It supports multicast paging using G.711u and G.722 codecs, compatible with multicast-capable SIP platforms and paging controllers. The 100BASE-Tx network interface connects to any standard PoE switch; consult your PoE switch power budget — the unit draws under 13W (Class 3), so it fits on standard 802.3af ports without requiring PoE+. The relay output is a dry-contact closure suitable for low-voltage control of door strikes, strobes, or third-party amplifiers.
