Overview

The PAN-1A is a doorphone station adapter that bridges Viking E-series entry phones to Panasonic telephone systems equipped with a dedicated doorphone port. Without this adapter, Viking's speaker-entry hardware cannot communicate with Panasonic's proprietary doorphone interface — the PAN-1A handles signal translation, talk battery, and ring generation so the integration works as designed. It ships with a UL-listed 120V AC power supply that converts to 13.8V AC at 1.25A, so no separate transformer is needed at the install point. If you're wiring a door entry phone into an existing Panasonic PBX environment, the PAN-1A is the purpose-built solution.

Compatibility

Compatible entry phones from the Viking Electronics line include the full E-series: E-10A, E-20B, E-30, E-32, E-35, E-40, E-50, E-60, E-65, E-70, E-75, and other E-series variants. Units ordered with Viking's Enhanced Weather Protection (EWP) option are also supported. On the system side, this adapter is designed for Panasonic telephone systems with a native doorphone station port — confirm your Panasonic KX-series or hybrid system has a doorphone interface before specifying this adapter. Replaces the discontinued PAN-1; existing PAN-1 installations can be upgraded directly to the PAN-1A.

Installation Notes

The PAN-1A delivers 40V DC talk battery at 25mA typical loop current — verify that figure against your Panasonic system's doorphone port spec before wiring. Maximum run length is 5,280 ft (1 mile / 1,610m) on 24 AWG wire, which covers most campus and multi-building deployments without an amplifier or repeater. Ring generation is a 40Hz square wave. Keep the unit inside a conditioned or protected enclosure: operating range is 32°F to 90°F (0°C to 32°C) and humidity is rated 5% to 95% non-condensing — it is not rated for outdoor or unprotected mounting. For outdoor entry phone placement in exposed environments, pair with a weatherproof enclosure at the door station and locate the PAN-1A indoors near the PBX.
