Optex CX-702RS Indoor Ceiling-Mount PIR Detector
Overview
The Optex CX-702RS is a 360-degree ceiling-mount passive infrared detector for commercial intrusion detection, occupancy lighting control, and HVAC automation. The pyroelectric sensor with segmented Fresnel lens installs flush into standard 86-type switch boxes or direct ceiling cutouts, blending into suspended ceiling grids—meaning no visible security hardware where occupants work or shop. Detection range extends to approximately 33 feet diameter at mounting heights of 8 to 15 feet, with selectable sensitivity (high, medium, low) to reduce false triggers from pets, HVAC drafts, or sunlight flicker. Walk-test LED indicators simplify commissioning by showing detection zone boundaries during installation.
Compatibility
The CX-702RS integrates with standard commercial alarm panels from Honeywell, DSC, Bosch, and DMP. Normally-closed and normally-open relay outputs connect via spring terminals to any 12 or 24 VDC panel input. The integrated tamper switch signals unauthorized removal, maintaining system integrity in access-controlled environments. No special firmware or proprietary integration required—this is a straightforward wired PIR compatible with any building automation or access control system that accepts dry-contact relay switching.
Installation Notes
Operating voltage ranges from 9.5 to 16 VDC with standby current draw approximately 11 mA—low enough to share a 12/24 VDC loop with multiple detectors without oversizing the power supply. Mount at 2.5 to 4.5 meters (8 to 15 feet) ceiling height for rated 33-foot detection diameter. Use the walk-test feature during commissioning to confirm detection boundaries before final commissioning. The tamper switch wiring is mandatory in systems requiring supervised inputs; omitting it voids tamper protection on that zone.
