Description

Viking Electronics PRX-3-MK-VEGNP Gooseneck Pedestal Mounting Kit

Overview

The PRX-3-MK-VEGNP is a pedestal mounting kit designed to co-locate a PRX-3 proximity card reader alongside a Viking VE-series surface mount entry phone box on a VE-GNP gooseneck pedestal. If you're deploying a combined reader-and-intercom setup at a vehicular gate, parking structure entrance, or exterior access point where a wall or post mount isn't available, this kit provides the mechanical interface that ties the assembly together. The PRX-3-MK-VEGNP ships as a purpose-built bracket — not a universal adapter — so fitment is exact and there's no field fabrication required. At 1.2 lb (0.54 kg) and a profile of 13.7" x 6.0" x 0.38" (348mm x 152mm x 10mm), the kit adds minimal mass and depth to the pedestal assembly, keeping the finished installation clean and low-profile.

Compatibility

This kit is specifically designed for the following Viking Electronics components:

  • Card reader: Viking PRX-3 medium-range 125KHz proximity card reader (up to 16-inch read range, 26-bit Wiegand output)
  • Entry phone boxes: VE-5x5, VE-6x7, and VE-5x10 surface mount entry phone enclosures
  • Pedestal: VE-GNP gooseneck pedestal

This kit is not designed for flush-mount or wall-mount installations of the PRX-3, nor is it compatible with Viking entry phone models outside the VE-5x5, VE-6x7, and VE-5x10 surface mount series. If you're mounting the PRX-3 alone — without a co-mounted entry phone — a different bracket configuration applies. Verify your specific VE-series box model before ordering. For the broader Viking Electronics access and intercom line, confirm pedestal and enclosure compatibility at the model level.

Installation Notes

The kit's slim 0.38" depth is designed to present both the PRX-3 reader and the VE-series entry phone box at a usable angle on the gooseneck pedestal without forward protrusion that would obstruct vehicle or pedestrian clearance. The PRX-3 itself requires a minimum AWG 24 wire gauge and supports cable runs up to 800 feet — plan your conduit routing through the pedestal base accordingly before final mounting. The PRX-3 operates on 5–16 VDC and draws up to 500mA peak, so confirm your access control panel's auxiliary power output can support the load at the cable run distance you're using. The pedestal access control mounting hardware should be anchored to a concrete or structural surface rated for the combined assembly weight before attaching this kit.
