Overview
The DRAM-1M is a memory expansion module from Viking Electronics, designed to extend the resident memory of compatible telephone entry and access control systems. If your deployment requires a larger directory capacity or additional tenant records than the base unit supports, the DRAM-1M is the direct upgrade path rather than replacing the controller.
Compatibility
The DRAM-1M is specifically designed for the Viking Electronics TMS-6X and TMS-12A telephone entry systems. It is not a general-purpose DRAM module and should not be installed in any other Viking product family or third-party controller. Confirm your unit's current firmware revision against Viking's installation documentation before installing — memory expansion modules can have revision-specific dependencies.
Installation Notes
Installation is performed at the controller board level. Power down the TMS-6X or TMS-12A completely before handling the module — static discharge risk applies. Refer to the Viking-supplied installation guide for socket orientation and seating confirmation. No external tools or wiring are required for the module itself, but you will need access to the controller enclosure, which may require removal from the wall mount depending on how the unit was originally installed.
