Overview

The Viking Electronics ERAM-60 is a non-volatile memory expansion kit designed to increase per-channel record time on compatible Viking DVA-series digital voice announcers. Each ERAM-60 kit contains one 28-pin non-volatile memory chip that adds exactly one minute of record capacity per channel — giving installers a modular, incremental path to extend recording time without replacing the base unit. The ERAM-60 is a required purchase alongside the initial DVA/FBI model sale; it cannot be retrofitted independently after the fact.

Compatibility

The ERAM-60 is compatible with the Viking DVA-3003 and DVA-500A digital voice announcer models. Each chip addresses a single channel; multiple ERAM-60 chips can be installed to reach the maximum supported capacity. The base DVA models support expansion to 2, 3, or 4 minutes per channel — meaning a 4-minute-per-channel configuration requires four ERAM-60 chips per channel. Verify your DVA model's maximum supported chip count before ordering to avoid over-purchasing.

Installation Notes

Each ERAM-60 chip is a 28-pin DIP device inserted into the DVA unit's expansion socket — no soldering required, but correct pin alignment is critical; reverse insertion will damage the chip. Operating environment must stay within 32°F to 90°F (0°C to 32°C) and 5% to 95% non-condensing humidity; installations in unconditioned spaces (attics, exterior closets) near these limits should be evaluated before deploying. The non-volatile design retains recorded audio through power loss, which matters in UPS-dependent telecom closet installs where brief outages are common.
