Description

Lenovo 4X97A59986 SR630 V2 6+4 Anybay Backplane NVMe Cable Kit

Overview

The Lenovo 4X97A59986 is a factory-new NVMe cable kit engineered specifically for the SR630 V2 server platform. It provides the backplane signal wiring needed to connect a 6+4 Anybay drive backplane to the system board — the component that makes NVMe drive slots electrically visible to the host. Without this cable assembly in place, NVMe drives installed in an Anybay backplane configuration will not enumerate, making this kit a prerequisite for any SR630 V2 NVMe storage build or re-cabling job. The kit ships as a matched cable set (V2 revision), designed to fit the SR630 V2 chassis routing path and connector positions without adapter workarounds.

Compatibility

Designed exclusively for the Lenovo ThinkSystem SR630 V2 rack server. The 6+4 Anybay designation refers to the specific backplane configuration — six universal bays plus four additional bays that support either SAS/SATA or NVMe drives depending on the backplane populated. This cable kit covers the NVMe signal path for that backplane variant. It is not interchangeable with SR630 (V1) cable kits or SR650/SR550 assemblies, which use different routing lengths and connector pinouts. Verify your SR630 V2 chassis backplane part number before ordering to confirm the 6+4 Anybay topology matches your configuration. For server storage planning, also review compatible NVMe storage solutions and server components in the same family.

Installation Notes

Cable routing follows the SR630 V2 internal cable management path — Lenovo's chassis design requires specific fold points and anchor clips to avoid interference with the mid-plane and cooling airflow. Verify the V2 revision designation on both this cable kit and your backplane before installation; V1 and V2 assemblies are mechanically similar but electrically incompatible at the backplane connector. The kit weighs 1.10 lb and ships in a package measuring 11.50 × 9.80 × 2.20 in, consistent with a multi-cable assembly rather than a single pigtail — handle the bundle intact until routed to prevent connector damage.
