Vivotek IP9165-LPC-V2 (9-50MM) 2MP License Plate Capture Camera
Overview
The Vivotek IP9165-LPC-V2 is a 2MP box camera built specifically for license plate recognition and traffic monitoring. Running 1920x1080 at 60 fps, it captures vehicle plates reliably at speeds up to 110 mph. The dedicated LPC firmware includes three scene modes—LPC-Parking, LPC-Street, and LPC-Highway—each tuned for distinct traffic environments to ensure consistent plate legibility regardless of lighting or mounting angle. WDR Pro II with 140dB dynamic range suppresses headlight glare and sunlight bloom, a critical factor when mounting at intersections or toll plazas. H.265 compression cuts bandwidth roughly in half versus H.264, reducing storage burden across multi-camera deployments. This is the platform for fixed-position traffic enforcement, parking access control, and toll-collection systems where frame rate and plate clarity cannot be compromised.
Compatibility
The IP9165-LPC-V2 integrates into any ONVIF-compliant video management system (VMS) supporting H.265, H.264, or MJPEG streams. It pairs with standard PoE network infrastructure (802.3af sufficient; draws under 13W typical) and connects to microSD card slots for onboard backup recording. The 9-50mm varifocal lens supports manual focus adjustment and remote back focus (RBF), allowing field calibration without removing the camera from its mounting position. Compatible with traffic analytics platforms that accept ONVIF Profile S streams and LPR hardware acceleration features. Integrates with Vivotek VMS products and third-party systems supporting standard IP camera protocols.
Installation Notes
IP68 rating and IK10 vandal resistance enable outdoor mounting in high-vibration or weathered environments (parking structures, highway overheads, toll booths). Operating range 0° to 50°C; no active cooling required in temperate climates. Digital Image Stabilization (DIS) compensates for camera movement caused by traffic vibration or wind—important for overhead pole or gantry mounts. SNV II (Supreme Night Visibility II) minimizes IR dependency in moderate low-light scenarios, reducing IR wash-out common in close-range plate captures. Integrated microphone and speaker support event-triggered audio alerts or two-way communication in access-control scenarios. Mount camera with clear line-of-sight to vehicle approach; angle varifocal lens to frame the entire plate at your deployment distance before tightening.
