Description

HPE 872233-B21 DL560 Gen10 8SFF HDD Bay 1 Kit

Overview

The HPE 872233-B21 is the factory-designated HDD Bay 1 kit for the ProLiant DL560 Gen10 server, delivering the drive cage and associated hardware required to populate the first small form factor (SFF) bay group with up to 8 x 2.5-inch drives. If you are expanding storage capacity on an existing DL560 Gen10 or completing an initial build that shipped without Bay 1 populated, this kit provides the correct HPE-sourced components rather than field-improvised alternatives that may not seat correctly or satisfy HPE firmware drive-presence validation. The 872233-B21 weighs 1.36 lb — light enough for a solo technician to stage and install without additional handling equipment.

Compatibility

Designed exclusively for the HPE ProLiant DL560 Gen10 platform (4-socket, 2U). It is not interchangeable with DL560 Gen9, DL580 Gen10, or other ProLiant families — bay cage geometry, backplane connectors, and chassis mounting points differ across generations and form factors. Verify your chassis generation before ordering; the Gen10 platform uses a distinct backplane pinout that prior-generation cages will not mate with correctly. If your rack server configuration calls for a second bay group, the DL560 Gen10 supports an additional SFF bay kit for a separate expansion slot — confirm your chassis BTO configuration against HPE's QuickSpecs for the DL560 Gen10 to identify which bay positions remain unpopulated.

Installation Notes

Installation follows HPE's standard tool-less drive cage procedure for the DL560 Gen10 — consult the HPE ProLiant DL560 Gen10 Server Maintenance and Service Guide for torque specifications on any captive fasteners and for backplane cable routing requirements. Ensure the server is fully powered down and discharged before inserting the bay assembly. Drive population after cage installation must follow HPE-specified slot-fill order to satisfy firmware RAID and drive-presence logic; refer to the server's QuickSpecs or service guide for the recommended sequence.
