Description

Honeywell 5800COA Wireless CO Detector

Overview

The 5800COA is a battery-powered wireless carbon monoxide detector designed to integrate with Honeywell VISTA series control panels equipped with a 5881 RF receiver. This device pairs an electrochemical CO sensor with a wireless transmitter that reports alarm, trouble, end-of-life, tamper, and low-battery conditions to your control system — eliminating the need for hardwired sensor runs. Listed to CSA 6.19-01 and supervised for fault detection, it is intended for residential and commercial installations where wireless CO monitoring fits your system architecture.

Compatibility

The 5800COA works exclusively with Honeywell VISTA-series control panels that support a 5881 RF receiver module. Verify receiver compatibility and the maximum number of 5800-series transmitters your panel supports in your control panel's installation documentation before deployment. This device is not compatible with non-VISTA systems or panels without the 5881 receiver installed.

Installation Notes

Mount the detector to wall or ceiling using the included surface-mount hardware. The device operates on a single 3V battery (not included); consult the datasheet for approved battery type and expected service life. Test and maintain the unit regularly per CSA 6.19-01 requirements using the integral test button. The sounder generates a temporal 4-pattern alarm signal; verify audibility in your intended mounting location, as CO alarms must be clearly heard throughout occupied spaces. Do not install in industrial facilities, commercial parking garages, or environments where CO exposure is not the primary hazard. Confirm RF range and signal strength before final placement; dense walls or metal structures may degrade wireless reception.
