The Honeywell 5800SMOKEV is a wireless dual-sensor smoke and heat detector designed to integrate into Honeywell security and fire detection systems. It combines photoelectric smoke sensing with thermal heat detection, allowing a single device to cover two alarm conditions — useful when you need comprehensive fire event coverage without mounting separate detectors. The wireless architecture eliminates hardwired runs to each detector location, reducing installation time and simplifying retrofit deployments in buildings where running cable would be impractical or costly.

The 5800SMOKEV pairs with Honeywell VISTA control panels (VISTA-15P, VISTA-20P, VISTA-48, VISTA-128FBP, VISTA-250BPT) and compatible Honeywell wireless receivers. It operates on the Honeywell 5800 wireless protocol, a proprietary 900 MHz transmission standard used across Honeywell's wireless sensor line. Confirm your panel model supports wireless sensors before deployment — not all legacy Honeywell panels include wireless receiver capability without an add-on module.
Installation Notes
Mount the detector on a ceiling or high wall location to optimize smoke stratification and heat column access. Wireless transmission range is approximately 100 feet line-of-sight indoors under normal RF conditions — actual range varies with wall density and interference. Test signal strength during commissioning; weak RF links cause missed alarms or nuisance transmissions. The detector requires two AA batteries; battery life is typically 3–5 years depending on transmit frequency. Replace batteries before depletion to avoid losing that detection zone. Do not install directly over heating vents, in kitchens with heavy cooking smoke, or in dusty environments (e.g., grain storage) — false alarms will erode system credibility.
